“Mom, when you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?” My children used to ask me this question when they were young as they tried to decide for themselves between a policeman, fireman, or garbage man. My answer would usually be, “a doctor, nurse, teacher, mom, wife, traveler, banker…..etc.” Well, dreams do come true, just not actually being ‘paid’ lol.
At 17, I married my husband Doug. We had three boys, and one girl. Later, we added three more boys to our family through adoption. Their ages now range from 26-13 yrs, plus two precious grandbabies!! We live in Spring, Texas and have been grateful to raise our children here and home school for over 21 years. During the past 9+ yrs I’ve driven part time for UPS, (which we all refer to as….. my break)
I am passionate about the Gospel reaching throughout India, and travel there as much as possible.
Mostly, I spend my ‘spare time’ encouraging younger married women to honor their husband and love their children through parent teaching events, wife clubs, coffee table mentoring, or just hanging out for a park day! My heart is for women to find their identity in their obedience to God. True joy and peace will follow. In general, through several generations, women have lost their way…I believe this loss goes deeper than our roles.
