My name is Denie and I live in the wonderful city of Boise, Idaho. Four years ago I was called to the streets of my city to minister to some of the most lost and unloved souls of our community.
I have been a follower of Christ for 24 years now and I have worked in all the positions at church that were considered the women’s place to serve, I enjoyed each and every one of them, but always felt that there was another call on my life. Never finding a place I fit and always being told what my roles as a woman was, frustrated, I left the church.
I call this time away from the church the time “I found God again” — a time where I heard His voice and His voice alone. In complete surrender to God to do with me as he wishes, I asked, “What will you have me do?”
“Go to the streets,” was His response and out of this was birthed Mosaic Street Ministries — a calling from God that has brought much opposition from fellow believers due to the fact that I am a woman and a single woman at that, but a calling that has taught me much about the heart and love of God.
Yes, I do attend church now, a wonderful church where I am a servant, but an equal servant with those around me, both man and woman joining together equally to become the body to do His service. He called a woman to go to the streets, not a man. His choice and who was I to tell Him “No.”
